Durga Prasad Chaganti

Is a sculptor whose work bridges indigenous traditions and contemporary artistic expression. Born in 1994, he earned his BFA in Sculpture from Andhra University and an MFA from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

Recognized with prestigious awards such as the Lalit Kala Akademi Research Scholarship and the Andhra Pradesh State Award, his practice continues to evolve through research and experimentation.

Prasad’s artistic journey delves into sustainable material culture, blending traditional craft with modern aesthetics. His work explores the iconography of indigenous symbols, reinterpreting them through diverse materials like wood, tamarind, and the Dhokra lost-wax casting technique. By pushing the boundaries of form and scale, he uncovers new expressive potential within ancient methods. His sculptures create a dialogue between past and present, inviting viewers to engage with the evolving narrative of heritage, materiality, and cultural identity.
