His artistic practice has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions at Kunst Halle St. Gallen (Switzerland), Bolzano and Palermo (Italy), New York, Houston, Shanghai, and across India. A recipient of the prestigious FICA Award (2007), he has participated in several artist residencies, including The Guild, New York (2007), Galleria dell’Arco, Shanghai (2009), and Pro Helvetia, Switzerland (2009). In 2021, he earned his PhD from the University of Calicut for his critical analysis of contemporary Indian visual art in the context of N.N. Rimzon’s works.

Soorya’s work challenges conventional perceptions by integrating elements of ‘otherness’ into his landscapes, creating a fusion of the real and the imagined. He describes his compositions through multiple perspectives—inscapes, cityscapes, mindscapes, or memory-scapes—each reflecting different layers of experience and psychological depth. His practice relies on memory and history to evoke a sense of both longing and belonging, addressing themes of strife, displacement, and transformation. By distilling his early experiences into their essential forms, his art becomes a powerful vehicle for contemplation, questioning, and emotional resonance.
