Rushi Sanjay Chandgude

Is a metal artist whose work bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary expression. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Art from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai (2022), specializing in metalwork, and is currently pursuing his Master’s in the same discipline.

His expertise in chasing and repoussé techniques has earned him accolades, including the Maharashtra State Government’s First Award (2022) and the Gold Medal at Sir J. J. School of Art’s Annual Exhibition. His work has been showcased at the 42nd Monsoon Art Show (Jehangir Art Gallery), the Kochi-Muziris Student Biennale (2022–23), and We Are on Trial: Dr. Narendra Dabholkar Art Exhibition (2022). He was also selected for an art project at the Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi.

Chandgude’s artistic practice is rooted in India’s rich metalworking traditions, drawing inspiration from temple architecture, sculptures, and murals. His works explore themes of heritage, resilience, and storytelling through metal, incorporating patina and textural detailing to evoke historical narratives. passionate about preserving and evolving traditional techniques, he continues to push the boundaries
of metal artistry, merging historical craftsmanship with modern artistic vision. His engagement with metal conservation, including participation in the Tata-CSMVS Metal Conservation Training Programme (2022), further reinforces his commitment to sustaining India’s metal art heritage.
