Is an acclaimed Indian artist, art director, and production designer known for his contributions to painting, set design, and calligraphy. With over 6 decades of experience, he has worked extensively in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema, creating visually compelling set designs.

His work has been exhibited internationally in Paris, Bordeaux, Vienna, Yugoslavia, and Germany, showcasing his ability to bridge traditional Indian themes with contemporary artistic expression. Recognized for his significant contributions to the arts, he has received prestigious honors, including two National Film Awards, three Nandi Awards, and the Padma Shri (2001). Tharani’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in Indian heritage, mythology, and scriptural symbolism. His Script Series explores the visual beauty of alphabets from different languages, transforming them into intricate abstract compositions. His paintings frequently depict gods, goddesses, and Rajput figures, while his Ganesha series presents the deity through diverse mediums such as pen drawings, watercolors, acrylics, and oils. His calligraphy experiments further enhance his engagement with linguistic and visual forms.
